I think 11/5 yr > 12.5/1, in alot of leagues they used total value of the contract as the deciding measure, like 11/5 = 55 mil, and 12.25/1 only equals 12.25 mil, if you want to lower the years on a previous offer you need to beat its total value, I'm not in control here but thats what I think we should do

Yep. I've seen both too. So I asked, since no information about FA's at all has been posted yet. And some of these bids are getting up where we'll need to decide who's worth what for how long... so... he's worth that to me today... and I'll wait for the Commish to let us know what's the routine.
