For those of you who did not know, today is the day Robert Gould Shaw lead the Massachusetts 54th Volunteer Infantry on the attempted siege of Ft. Wagner.

Which is, of course, the basis for the movie, "Glory," which we all seemed to be obsessed with during our school days.
